The Forgiveness Project’s award winning Prison Programme (Restore) comes under the Restorative Justice/Victim Awareness umbrella and increasingly is being recognised by probation officers, prison staff and prisoners themselves as an extremely effective intervention which helps participants understand the impact of their actions on others and provides the impetus to change offending behaviour. In 2007, the charity received a ‘Special Commendation’ from the Longford Prize judges, awarded for our ‘remarkable work’ in prisons.
The Restore Programme aims to challenge a prisoner’s self perception and to facilitate transformative learning, through fundamental shifts in participants’ world views. The long-term aim is to promote the rehabilitation of offenders, reduce the nature and extent of recidivism, and to ensure that there are fewer victims.

The Forgiveness Project’s F Word exhibition and accompanying resources have created stimulating learning opportunities in schools, aimed at exploring truth, justice, forgiveness/revenge and concepts of responsibility within relationships. Having conducted several pilot workshops in two schools, and consulted widely with teachers, and education specialists, the aim for 2011 will be to produce a dynamic, multi-media, cross-curricular educational resource that will provide inspirational stories of forgiveness from around the globe, and explore young people’s own understanding of, and stories about conflict and reconciliation.
£1,500 enables us to run a bespoke one-day Forgiveness Project workshop with three facilitators.
Our real life Stories that our exhibited in our powerful and highly acclaimed F Word exhibition, and on our website, are the heart of the Forgiveness Project, and the foundation upon which all of our work revolves.
It is vital that The Forgiveness Project continues to research and add to this bank of stories.
£1000 enables us to research, interview, write, photograph and film one new story for website and other multimedia.
